The meaning of PLC and VFD is deep-rooted in the context of industrialization and is quite significant to the say the least. PLCs are designed for complex control of machines, processes and other control systems which makes it necessary to install and program them to suit their desired and real life applications. VFDs, on the other hand, are more focused in nature as they are used to vary the speed or torque of electric machines thereby improving the energy and the performance of the application. Knowing how these two differ is important if you intend to source out solutions or some of them for your automation. Thus, whilst PLCs perform well when there is a need to regulate several operations, VFDs control the operation of motors, and thus they are beneficial in many scopes of operations, together.
